Pouring and Finishing

After the first pour had cured for several days, the second pour commenced. We poured two areas this time, as it was possible to reach across and properly finish both. The vapor barrier and mesh were only placed as the pour progressed, thus minimizing damage from the wheelbarrow.

Second pour

The process is repeated and the floor is about 60 percent complete.

After the concrete initially set, we continually wet the surface to slow the rate of cure and improve strength. This is a desirable step to take, especially if the weather is warm. The wet concrete can also be covered with plastic, or anything else that will slow evaporation.
