Curing

With the final pour complete we allowed the floor to cure for a week or so before allowing any heavy foot traffic. The floor will chip relatively easily for the first several weeks, but after about a month it will have realized most of its strength potential, though even then it will continue to cure.

The floor has been poured, and metal post bases have seen secured to the grade beam. Note the porch post bases have been poured (foreground).

At this point we had to wait until the walls were erected and the roof completed to begin the final details of staining, grouting, and sealing the floor. This would prevent any mishaps or construction wear-and-tear from damaging the finished floor. So with the click of a mouse, we fast-forward to acid staining...
