Tarping
After any plaster application it is important to shelter the fresh plaster from the elements for at least 72 hours. This is usually accomplished by hanging tarps from the facia or soffit areas and draping it to the ground so as to shield the freshly plastered walls from sun, wind, and rain. On particulary warm or windy days it may even be necessary to occasionally mist the plaster to keep it from drying too quickly. The slower the plaster dries the stronger it will be.
It is important to make sure the tarps are firmly anchored at their base as well, as the wind may blow them into the walls and injure or even remove large portions of plaster.
Note: It is not recommended to apply plaster in temperatures below 40 degrees F or above 85 degrees F to prevent problems associated with freezing or rapid drying.
