We opted for a metal roof on this structure for may reasons: durability, ease of installation, ability to shed snow, and appearance. Also, should a rain water collection system ever be added to this structure, a metal roof is well suited to the task. This particular product is the standing seam variety in which each panel "locks" into the next. The fasteners are concealed beneath the adjacent over-locking panel, thus the leak potential from the fastener holes is eliminated. This type of roofing is usually special-order and is delivered cut to the specified length.
The roof is topped with a vented ridge cap to allow the interior of the roof structure to breathe. Should you need to walk on this roofing once it is installed use caution not to scratch the paint off of the metal, as this can erode its long-term performance. Next we begin baling!
